Carlos Alcaide. It’s Spanish. Look it up and you’ll find that it means passion. Which is probably why everyone who works with him uses the word to describe what he brings to every project he shoots.
With over 30 years in the business as an advertising photographer and more recently, a DOP/Director, he has worked on some of the most recognized and loved brand campaigns in Australia and globally for clients like ANZ, Cadbury, Adidas, Qantas to name just a few.
He is also at his best working with talent from all walks of life – making them feel comfortable in front of camera – whether they are Hollywood stars like Priscilla Presley, sports hero’s like Tim Cahill and Billy Slater. And because he’s so experienced he has a way of relaxing even the most inexperienced talent, to capture the magical moments that tell a compelling story.
A collaborative problem solver, together with Nicky Finlay, Carlos founded HELL STDIOS just over 10 years ago, identifying the need to deliver exceptional imagery coupled with impeccable service. He understands that every project comes with its unique challenges and requirements, so he works closely with his team and clients to find the best solutions.
When he’s not shooting you’ll find him cooking up a storm in Hell’s Kitchen or on the golf course, working on his swing.
So remember the name Alcaide - it doesn’t really mean passion, it actually means the commander of a castle or fortress - but you’ll understand why passion just works better once you work with him.
